Terms & Conditions

Arrival – Our check in times are between the hours of 2pm – 6pm.
This is to allow for the previous campers to vacate the pitch.
If campers are stuck in our seasonal traffic and not able to make it down to us by the time reception closes please just email ahead and we can direct you as to what to do when you get here. We ask anyone coming in late (if previously informed us) that they consider the campers already on site and keep their noise down to a minimal, including lights on the cars to be dimmed or if possible off when setting up.
Departing – In Cornwall we like everyone to relax as much as possible so a nice relaxed check out time for us is 12 midday. Before you leave the site, please ensure you take with you any broken tents or equipment and do not dispose of them in our general waste bins. We also ask that you leave your pitch clear of rubbish and any general waste or recycling is disposed of before leaving.
Reception – Our main reception is only open from during the summer holiday and the last bank holiday weekend in May, or if demand calls for it to be open. However, Campers are asked to go down to the bungalow all other times and we will open reception if needed by the campers.
BookingIt is 1 x unit (1 x tent/caravan/campervan) per pitch.
When you place your booking with us, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit to secure your pitch during your chosen dates. When placing a provisional booking with us, if you have not paid a deposit within 48 hours of placing the booking it will be deleted, we cannot hold pitches without a deposit.
With Regret we cannot accept bookings for groups of under 18’s.
All bookings are accepted with the knowledge that all our Terms and Conditions will be followed by our wonderful campers.
We cannot guarantee the availability of specific pitches but please feel free to let us know if you have a preference and we will do our best to accommodate you. Occasionally we do have to swap things around at the last minute for reasons out of our control, but we will do our best to minimalise any disruption to your original booking.
When making your booking, please ensure you provide the correct details, as requested. Such as the correct amount of cars, tents, people so we know exactly what you are bringing with you. A hiker’s pitch is only for hikers walking the coastal paths. It is not for campers who want to pay less and not park their car by the tent. We do not have a car park; therefore, all vehicles will be parked on the camping pitch. (unless there are circumstances, such as bad weather, that require them to be parked elsewhere)
Cancellations/refunds -We do not issue any refunds for late arrivals, early departures, inclement weather conditions (we are not mother nature). If you want to amend your booking for any reason please email as soon as possible to clare@higherpentreathcampsite.co.uk and we will try our best to accommodate this.
Higher Pentreath Campsite Ltd are not liable for refunds or expenses you incur in the event they are prevented from fulfilling your Booking as a result of circumstances beyond their control. Such circumstances shall include (but not be limited to) war, terrorism, riots or civil unrest, industrial action, flooding, natural disaster, epidemics, health risks or such similar events (“Force Majeure”). We recommend that you have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover this.

SafetyBBQ’s/firepits – We accept and encourage BBQ’s and Campfire’s, after all, are you even camping if you don’t BBQ at least once? However they must be kept off the grass, so to not mark it. We do provide breeze blocks to help with this. They should be supervised at all times by an adult and set up in a place where they are far enough away from any tent/unit that there will be no danger of the fire spreading or catching anything else alight.
All ashes etc also need to be disposed of appropriately in a safe manner.
Cars around the site – We ask that when our campers are driving around the site, or coming and going from the site (including the lane) that you drive at no more than 5mph. This will ensure the safety of everybody on site, especially any children. If this is not followed, you could be asked to leave the site on the spot, without warning. We take this extremely seriously.
Dogs – All dogs are welcome on our site, we are dog lovers for sure, but we do appreciate that not everybody is, and that some people might be fearful around them. For this reason we ask that dogs are kept on leads at all times when on the site and we know it goes without saying but please pick up after your dogs as well. We also ask that dogs are not left for long periods of time on their own and if you need to leave them at your pitch, that they are left with water, comfort and shade.
Fields – If we experience the beautiful Cornish liquid sunshine (rain) our fields can become extremely slippery, as we do have a slope to our fields (we do have many flat pitches though), if this happens, please go extremely careful and if at any point you need help, we offer a towing service to help people on and off pitches. (its all good fun)
Children – We love that at our site we encourage children to forget their electronic devices and live the childhood memories we all had as kids, playing together, running around and appreciating the countryside, however all children must be the responsibility of their parents or guardians. And we ask that all children are back near their pitches by 10pm, we want to keep everyone safe.
General – In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management’s attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
We ask that everyone respects their fellow campers, whether that is ensuring you keep noise to a minimum at night, keeping the facilities tidy (putting paper in bins) or being pleasant to your fellow campers (after all, everyone is on holiday to have a nice, relaxing time).
With this in mind the management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of any guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
Pitching up – We are not a regimented site, we don’t expect everyone to pitch in lines, and we don’t come out with rulers, and if you like that type of site, we may not be the ones for you. We like the relaxed feel to our site and don’t want this to change, but we do expect common sense, so although on our non-electric pitches you can chose where to pitch, it has to be safe distance from your neighbours (6 meters) and where everyone can still get on and off their pitch with their cars.
Rules whilst on site

We only have a few small rules

  • Please respect fellow campers and the management- try to remember this is also our home.
  • Chill out and relax (this is an order)
  • Dogs welcome but must be kept on a lead (we love your pooches but not everyone will)
  • Laugh a lot (I’m sure a few Rattlers will help with this)
  • Campfires/BBQ’s are allowed, providing they are kept off the grass (again please take fire seriously)
  • Watch a sunset (and star gazing is recommended)
  • All rubbish to be disposed of appropriately and before leaving (please take all broken tents/camping gear with you)
  • The speed limit on site is no more than 5MPH (this we take very seriously) Why rush anyway? You’re on holiday!
  • Embrace the Cornish ways and do things d’reckly!

Everyone is welcome, groups, couples, singles and of course families. Therefore if booking with us please expect a mix of people, we like it this way and think it works well.
(Higher Pentreath Campsite Ltd, reserve the right at any time, to ask anyone staying on the site to leave who cannot follow our rules)
